CNC Turner Setter/Operator

The Role
As our CNC Turner Setter/Operator, you will play a crucial role in setting up and operating our state-of-the-art CNC turning machines with Fanuc controls. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Producing high-precision components with tight tolerances, up to 0.5 microns, to meet customer specifications and industry standards.
- Interpreting engineering drawings and specifications to plan and execute machining operations effectively.
- Selecting the appropriate tools, inserts, and workholding methods based on job requirements.
- Carrying out first-off and in-process inspections using precision measuring equipment, such as micrometers and bore gauges.
- Making necessary machine adjustments and offsets to maintain tolerances and achieve optimum cycle times.
- Maintaining a clean and safe working environment in line with health and safety standards.
- Troubleshooting any machine or programming issues that arise during production runs.
- Communicating effectively with the production and quality teams to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of jobs.
Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Proven experience as a CNC Turner Setter/Operator, specifically with Fanuc controls.
- A strong understanding of precision machining and working with tight tolerances (up to 0.5 microns).
- The ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency in using various measuring instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- The ability to work independently and manage your time effectively.
- Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate within a team.
- While not essential, formal engineering or machining qualifications (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds) and previous experience working in a high-precision manufacturing environment would be highly desirable.
