Location: Coventry / Derby (Hybrid working)
Contract Type: Contract Role (Inside IR35)
Contract Length: Initial 6-month Contract (Subject to extension or permanent hire)
Start Date: August 2024
Pay Rate: £45.00 to £52.00 Per Hour (Negotiable based on level of experience)

We are currently looking for an Electrical Design Engineer on a contract basis, to work as part of our clients in-house design team, developing control panel systems for use within the Water and Waste Water sectors, such as Control Panels, MCC's, PLC's, SCADA and automation systems.

Whilst this role sits within the Water / Construction sector, our client is happy to consider candidates with expertise working in different industries, such as the automotive, energy and nuclear sectors.

In this role you will help to grow in-house design capability, developing standardised control panel systems, that can be manufactured and prefabricated off-site, forming part of innovative plug and play technology, for future use within the Water industry.

The role will suit driven candidates used to working in a team environment, who enjoy creating innovative designs, seeing works through feasibility, design and creation stages, inclusive of problem solving and value-engineering.

Daily Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Working on schemes from feasibility stage, surveying, evaluating and assessing applications for upcoming AMP8 Framework projects, through design and delivery on site.
  • Creating innovative technical design solutions for electrical control panels, including the design of Control Panel Schematic Diagrams from User Requirement Specifications.
  • Product testing, fault finding, problem solving and re-engineering.
  • Equipment selection and purchase (Where required).
  • Producing documentation for manufacturing / workshop professionals to follow, as well as production of Operation and Maintenance O&M Manuals, and where required RAMS.
  • Working as part of a wider team, interfacing with Project Management and Mechanical professionals, as well as Civils / Process / MEICA professionals, where required.

Candidates will ideally:

  • Hold a relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering.
  • Have a strong background in electrical design of control panels.
  • Have demonstrable history working to standards and codes of practice, with experience of providing designs and specifications for commercial negotiations.
  • Have strong communication skills, including internal and external stakeholder management.
  • Be forward thinking innovators, capable of anticipating and overcoming challenges.
  • Be used to working in fast paced, team environment.
