Gleeson Recruitment Group are recruiting for a Head of Finance.

Overseeing a diverse portfolio within the group you'll be the leading finance for a business that has got a strong connection to the Midlands. The company is currently undergoing a transformation of finance and operational systems, presenting an exciting opportunity to shape the future of financial management and reporting.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the finance function, managing a team.
  • Establish and maintain robust financial systems and controls for accurate and timely reporting.
  • Review and enhance existing financial systems for potential efficiencies and improvements.
  • Report to directors with timely and accurate financial insights.
  • Collaborate with directors and site managers to set annual budgets and forecasts, ensuring accuracy and integrity.
  • Produce monthly management accounts by site, including analysis, commentary, variance reporting, and budget comparisons.
  • Develop annual forecasts to support strategic decision-making and compliance.
  • Oversee payroll, ensuring accurate remuneration and timely statutory deductions.
  • Manage statutory returns (e.g., VAT) and ensure timely reconciliation and payments.
  • Review bank reconciliations, sales ledger, purchase ledger, and maintain fixed asset registers.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders (e.g., auditors, banks, insurers).

Skills and Qualifications:

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification (or qualified by experience).
  • Strong technical ability, including financial reporting and taxation.
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage50).
  • Experience of multi-site businesses.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Proven experience in preparing and presenting financial results.
  • Systems implementation experience and process improvement expertise.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and presentation skills.
