SF Recruitment are working with an organisation based in Coventry who is looking for a Health & Safety Advisor to join the team on a temporary basis 3 months - possible extension and ability to apply for the permanent role £300 per day inside IR35 Hybrid Role: - Encourage the adoption of high standards of legal compliance and good practice by developing networks and relationships with key stakeholders to develop their capacity to manage risk and encourage proactive consideration of risks to health and safety. - Provide a proactive, professional, solutions-focused advice on health and safety to managers, supervisors, and staff in a defined group of departments (based on risk priority, departmental needs and technical knowledge and experience) to support them to develop local arrangements including: o health and safety risk registers o safe systems of work and incident response plans o risk assessments o training needs analysis o action plans - Develop specialist areas of knowledge upon which they will lead on the development of Health and Safety Standards, guidance, and processes (e.g., machinery, lasers, radiation, biological and chemical safety, events, drones, disability adjustment etc.). - Develop Group policy, procedures, standards, and guidance which interprets legal requirements into implementable arrangements to promote a healthy and safe work / study environment for staff, students, and visitors. - Monitor health and safety standards and statutory compliance through audits, inspections, and risk assessments, ensuring reports include recommendations where remedial action is required. - Provide a focal point for expert advice and assistance on health and safety matters to staff and students. - Support the implementation of health and safety strategy, undertaking project work as required and keeping the team informed of emerging issues that may have a significant impact on the Group. - Provide line management support for Health and Safety Advisors/Trainees, including: o Ensuring regular communication within the team; cascading and escalating messages as needed o Allocating tasks, monitoring quality, and managing workloads o Regularly reviewing progress against personal objectives and priorities, flagging any difficulties to the Health and Safety Manager o Approving leave/absence requests, and ensuring there is sufficient cover. Supporting team members with their personal development, through training, coaching and supervision, flagging formal training requirements to the Health and Safety Manager - At the direction of the Health and Safety Manager, maintain liaison with appropriate enforcement agencies particularly the Health and Safety Executive, Fire Authority, Local Authority, and other outside agencies as appropriate e.g., nominated Occupational Health Provider, Insurance companies and their associates.
