Reed Engineering is excited to partner with an established specialist manufacturing business in Coventry, seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Manager. This crucial role involves advising on health and safety matters, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with legislation, thereby promoting a positive health and safety culture within the organisation.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Advise managers, employees, and contractors on health and safety obligations and responsibilities.
  • Conduct internal health and safety audits and inspections to meet both company standards and legislative requirements.
  • Maintain records of inspections, produce detailed reports, and develop action plans to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
  • Provide risk assessment methodologies for health, safety, and fire to identify potential risks and implement control measures.
  • Investigate accidents and near misses, recommending procedural changes to prevent future occurrences.
  • Manage the accident policy to minimise risks and ensure safe practices.
  • Collaborate within the health and safety team to refine and deliver the company’s health and safety strategy.
  • Deliver training programmes to sustain and enhance the health and safety culture.
  • Ensure contractors provide suitable risk assessments and documentation.
  • Stay updated on current and proposed health, safety, and environmental legislation.
  • Work with advisory and legal bodies such as HSE and local authorities when required.
  • Ensure safe storage and transportation of products.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • NEBOSH certification (essential).
  • IOSH certification (desirable).
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
  • Experience in contract management and supplier relations.
  • Proven ability to add value, reduce costs, and improve business and health and safety practices.
  • Commercially and financially aware with keen attention to detail.
