Are you an experienced Production Planner/Team Leader looking to move on in your career? If so, we are looking for someone to oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of production activities within our client’s manufacturing facility. This opportunity will offer career development longer term. The salary is £35k - £40k doe plus pension, career progression and training. Working Mon- Thursday 7.30am - 4pm and Friday 7.30am - 1pm.

The ideal candidate will have experience in production planning, team leadership, and the composite materials sector, with an understanding of GRP fibreglass processes preferred but not essential. You will be responsible for managing production schedules, resources, and ensuring efficient and timely delivery of quality products, working closely with the Workshop Manager to ensure operational success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production Planning: Develop and manage detailed production schedules to meet customer demands and business objectives. Plan material requirements, resource allocation, and workflow to optimize production efficiency.
  • Collaboration with Workshop Manager: Work with the Workshop Manager to ensure seamless coordination between production planning and workshop activities. Ensure that workshop capacities, staffing, and resources are aligned with the production schedules.
  • Reporting & Excel Skills: Prepare and present regular reports on production performance, including output, downtime, and efficiency metrics using advanced Excel functions (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis tools). Use data to drive improvements in productivity.
  • Workflow Management: Monitor the progress of production jobs, adjusting schedules and plans as needed to meet changing customer demands or resolve production issues. Ensure production targets are met within deadlines and budgets.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all products meet quality standards and customer specifications. Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to resolve any production defects or quality issues.
  • Inventory Management:Manage and monitor inventory levels of raw materials and finished products to ensure uninterrupted production. Work with suppliers and procurement teams to maintain an optimal inventory of materials.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Production Planner, Team Leader, or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including functions such as pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis tools.
  • Experience with production planning software.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to challenges.
  • Solid understanding of health, safety, and quality regulations within a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Understanding of CAD software for production drawings.
  • Previous experience in managing a team in a manufacturing environment.
