Reed Further Education are seeking a SpLD Dyslexia Assessor for a further education college based in Coventry. This role involves completing initial assessments and creating support plans for learners with Dyslexia, tailored to meet individual needs. You will ensure that exam concessions are effectively implemented in collaboration with the ALS, Exams, and Curriculum teams, adhering to JCQ guidelines. This position also involves promoting the use of assistive technology within the ALS Team to enhance student skills as a standard practice.

The role is initally temporary, but for the right candidate the college will consider applications for a permanent position.

Position: Full-time, 37 hours or Part-time can be considered

Role type: Temporary Ongoing (Temp to Perm possible)

Location: Coventry

Salary: £28p/h to £38p/h including holiday pay

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Conduct thorough initial assessments for learners with additional needs, focusing on Dyslexia, to identify appropriate support and exam concessions.
  • Develop personalised support plans that cater to individual learner needs.
  • Ensure the implementation of exam concessions in line with JCQ guidelines by liaising with the ALS, Exams, and Curriculum teams.
  • Work collaboratively with the ALS Team to promote and integrate the use of assistive technology in learning processes.
  • Maintain a caseload of young people, setting and reviewing targets that address barriers to learning and support academic achievement.
  • Travel off-site as necessary to attend meetings and support assessments.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Postgraduate level 7 qualification in Assessing for Access or SpLD and a current Assessment Practising Certificate.
  • Proven experience in completing Educational Access Assessments (EAAs) for learners with additional needs.
  • Experience working within a post-16 educational setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a caseload of young people, setting educational and developmental targets.
