Payroll Officer - Key Responsibilities:
Administer Payroll process with accuracy by setting appropriate quality standards and timelines for own work area
Conduct Payroll activities such as accounting, distributing and preparing payments, benefits, taxes, and Payroll deductions
Calculate various components of salary such as overtime, shift payments, sales commissions, and bonuses
Calculate and process statutory deductions, including income tax, National Insurance contributions, and pension contributions
Oversee the administration of employee pension schemes, including enrolment, contributions, and liaison with pension providers
Conduct payroll audits to ensure data accuracy and compliance with internal policies and external regulations
Coordinate year-end payroll processes with the payroll provider, oversee the production of annual P60s and P11D forms to ensure compliance
Check for patterns of errors/ repetitive issues and rectify the same, else escalate complex issues for resolution
Support other team members on recurring errors and issues related to Payroll
Maintain various Payroll records as per process guidelines
Prepare reports for internal use/ Government/ Compliance
Collate and verify data and information required for carrying out Payroll processes
Receive and resolve Payroll related queries from employees
Work closely with colleagues across Human Resources to support the delivery of a seamless service to managers and staff
Develop a good understanding of our pension schemes, staff terms and conditions and stay up to date with wider pensions, payroll across the sector
Operate with the highest levels of confidentiality and discretion in working with sensitive personal data, whilst also recognising GDPR obligations
Convince other subject matter experts to accept new concepts, practices, and approaches
May cooperate with and coordinate 3rd parties e.g. external service providers
Provide technical guidance to line managers and employees
May direct the work of other lower-level professionals or manage processes and programs
Coach, review and delegate work to lower-level professionals
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience more than 6 years
Exposure with relevant key aspects of HR processes including Talent, C&B, ER / IR, etc.
Up to date knowledge of payroll legislation – PAYE, NI, SSP, SMP, etc.
Familiarity with pension scheme administration and compliance requirements
Familiarity with P11d processes as well as payrolling benefit processes (PMI, company cars)
Demonstrable experience of operating the payroll process from start to end with emphasis on compliance
