Are you confident on the phone and comfortable working with numbers? This is an exciting opportunity to join an education business as an Accounts Receivable Clerk, playing a key role in ensuring payments are correctly allocated and outstanding fees are chased where necessary. This role is a perfect fit for someone with strong customer service experience, particularly in a phone-based role, who also has a solid understanding of finance.

This position offers a fantastic blend of finance work and communication, with a 50/50 split between reconciling payments, checking whether they require chasing, and speaking with customers to resolve queries. You'll be part of a supportive finance team working on a valuable data-cleansing project, with hybrid working and onsite parking available.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing outstanding fees to determine whether they require chasing.
  • Reconciling payments against the system to check for discrepancies.
  • Investigating exemptions or reasons payments may not need to be chased.
  • Contacting customers via phone and email to discuss outstanding balances.
  • Allocating incoming payments and ensuring records are accurate.
  • Assisting with a large-scale data-cleansing project to improve financial records.

Candidate Attributes and Skills:

  • Strong customer service experience, ideally in a phone-based role.
  • Confidence in speaking with customers and resolving payment queries.
  • Some finance knowledge-this could come from prior experience, an AAT qualification, or a finance-related degree.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to work through large data sets.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and handling sensitive conversations.
