SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant

Long Term Futures is seeking a compassionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 4 child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The role is based at a two form OFSTED 'Good' primary school. This is a long-term to permanent position, offering the chance to make a meaningful impact on a child's educational and emotional development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support, assisting with learning activities and social interactions.
  • Implement tailored strategies from the pupil's Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP).
  • Support communication, sensory, and behavioural needs, using visual aids and structured routines.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and engagement in classroom activities.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SEN staff, and parents to ensure consistent support and track progress.
  • Adapt to the KS1 or KS2 curriculum, depending on the child's needs and school placement.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with Autism (ASD) in an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of SEN strategies, including visual supports, social stories, and sensory regulation.
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to engaging children with additional needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and parents.
  • Relevant qualifications and experience in KS1 or KS2.
