About the Role
We are looking for a Piping Inspector to perform mechanical pressure system inspections at Mossmorran. This onshore role involves assessing and reporting on pressurized piping and related equipment to ensure compliance with UK legislation.
As a Piping Inspector, you will conduct physical inspections, assessments, and reporting on the condition of pressurized piping and related equipment. Acting as the "competent person" under the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000, your role involves evaluating equipment condition and determining its suitability for continued service. All inspections are performed in compliance with company and client procedures, site standards, and international design codes, ensuring adherence to UK legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a competent person on behalf of the client, conducting mechanical pressure system inspections, including NDT (UT, MPI, DPI) as required, in compliance with legal and company standards.
- Develop NDT plans, selecting appropriate techniques to identify degradation mechanisms as outlined in the Written Scheme of Examination (WSE).
- Perform corrosion loop inspections, prepare work packs, input data into SharePoint, and update registers.
- Review piping work packs and conduct line walks as necessary to prepare for inspections and NDT activities.
- Compile piping inspection reports, detailing equipment conditions and recommending future inspection intervals.
- Create CAIRS and submit repair recommendations to Area Inspectors and the client.
- Raise SAP notifications for job planning, resource requirements, and manhour estimations.
- Collaborate with client representatives and other departments (e.g., TAS/Corrosion Engineers/Area Inspectors) to meet work deadlines.
- Conduct structural inspections, PFP inspections, and small bore tubing assessments as needed.
- Organize weekly workloads in line with inspection plans to achieve targets.
- Attend department meetings and maintain client systems, addressing outstanding actions as required.
- Complete administrative tasks, including timesheets, SAP history updates, and planning.
- Work safely at all times, adhering to client and company safety standards.
Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000 (PSSR).
- Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in using computer systems.
- Excellent coordination and prioritization skills.
Required Qualifications
- UKAS RG2 Category 3.
- PCN Level 2 certifications in UT (3.1 & 3.2), MPI, and DPI (preferred).
- IRATA Rope Access certification (Level 1, 2, or 3).
- ASME Level 1 Plant Inspector and/or API 570 certifications.
Salary
Up to 55k, depending on experience.
