Maintenance Technician

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our Production department. This role involves maintaining and repairing all production machinery and electrical systems within our facility, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal production efficiency. The Maintenance Technician will work closely with external technicians and adhere to health and safety regulations.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on all electrical systems, production machinery, and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve both electrical and mechanical issues on production machinery such as conveyors, mixers, packaging machines, and more.
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical components including motors, control panels, wiring, sensors, and power distribution systems.
  • Coordinate with external technicians and contractors for specialised support or repairs, ensuring minimal production disruptions and compliance with company standards.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with relevant health and safety regulations, including lockout/tagout procedures and electrical safety codes.
  • Keep detailed records of all maintenance activities and provide reports on equipment performance and maintenance interventions.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Qualified Electrician with a recognized electrical qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
  • Additional certifications in mechanical maintenance, multi-skilled engineering, or a related discipline are desirable.
  • Proven experience as an electrician in an industrial or manufacturing environment, preferably within the food production sector.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills for both electrical and mechanical issues.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical diagrams, technical drawings, and schematics.
  • Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple maintenance tasks and prioritise work efficiently.
