Salary: 40,000 per annum (with annual reviews)

Working Hours: Monday-Thursday 8am-5pm, Friday 8am-4pm

The Client:
Our client distributes and manufactures a wide range of chemical products for various industries in the UK and Ireland.

The role:
We are seeking a Technical Laboratory Manager to oversee Quality Control, Compliance, and Product Development, and support other business areas.

Key Responsibilities:

Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation (REACH, CLP, BPR, etc.).
  • Generate Safety Data Sheets and develop haz-chem labels.
  • Review and implement Health and Safety policies.
  • Conduct internal audits and update documentation.

Product Development:

  • Plan and manage product development from concept to market.
  • Conduct formulation amendments and continuous improvements.

Quality Control:

  • Collect and analyse samples, ensuring product quality.
  • Maintain product traceability and complete certificates of analysis.
  • Conduct supplier assessments and review QC documentation.
  • Provide technical support to the sales team and customers.

General:

  • Manage laboratory staff and maintain a clean lab.
  • Attend management meetings and assist in chemical plant operations.

The person:

  • Ideally qualified to degree level or equivalent in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field. This is a hands-on role and would suit someone with 3 - 4 years' experience as a Senior Lab Technician or Lab Supervisor looking to make their first move into a management role.
