Job Description:
The Facilities Assistant will play a crucial role in the day-to-day coordination of tasks for the facilities team, ensuring the workplace remains safe, clean, and well-maintained. This position collaborates closely with operations and engineering teams as well as external suppliers and contractors to facilitate smooth site operations.
Location:Cramlington, with occasional travel to suppliers and contractors as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate tasks for a small maintenance team, ensuring site standards are upheld.
- Maintain internal and external infrastructure to meet industry standards.
- Ensure proper servicing and maintenance of essential site services (e.g., boilers, compressors, chillers).
- Manage the task log, addressing concerns and escalating as needed.
- Liaise with suppliers/contractors for quotes and process purchase orders.
- Serve as a contact point for contractors working on-site.
- Oversee health and safety compliance, ensuring timely prioritization of tasks.
- Address facility-related work orders promptly.
- Coordinate with cleaning, security, and other service providers.
- Support office moves and assist with equipment relocations if required.
- Drive site-wide improvements, including sustainability and digitalization initiatives.
- Assist the Facilities Manager in developing and implementing strategic goals.
- Attend relevant meetings and support metrics tracking and continuous improvement efforts.
- Work within budget constraints, with an understanding of budget management.

- Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations.

- Attention to detail and a valid driver’s license.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in a facilities or maintenance role.
- Basic knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing).
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing or lean six sigma methodologies.
- Computer proficiency, especially in Google Chrome.
