The ideal candidate will have a great knowledge and passion for food, great people skills and be up for a challenge

As Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for growing and maintaining some already well-established relationships in and around the North East of the UK in addition to new business generation. Reporting to the Head of Sales, you will work as part of a team managing your own diary and be responsible for ensuring customer’s requirements are met.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Operate as the key contact for accounts within your assigned area/region.
  • Continuously looking to maximise sales.
  • Ensure allocated accounts run within the expected levels of margin.
  • Be reactive to account issues ensuring you seek satisfactory resolution for customers.
  • Targeted and strategic new business prospecting.
  • Support customers with planning and development.
  • New Product presentation and tasting.
  • Host regular and structured depot and supplier visits with customers.

About you:

  • Proven sales experience within a similar business, ideally within the fresh food sector.
  • Experience in hospitality and/or a background as a chef would be an advantage.
  • Previous experience in customer care or client-facing roles.
  • A solid understanding of supply chain processes.
  • Strong proficiency in IT and digital tools.
