Location: Cramlington NE23 1WB
Salary: Up to £18.00 per hour
Job Type: Full-time
Shift: Monday to Friday
Expected Hours: 38 hours per week

Job Purpose:

We are looking for an experienced Manual Miller to machine components to a high standard, ensuring all parts meet customer specifications and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Machine components according to the route card and technical drawings.
  • Assist in the fitting of components as needed.
  • Identify the operations required from the provided drawings.
  • Operate and set manual milling machines to customer specifications and company standards.
  • Determine the appropriate speeds and feeds for each component.
  • Produce high-precision parts using conventional milling machines, adhering to exact standards.
  • Correctly position components into the machine, utilizing lifting equipment where necessary.
  • Ensure quality by measuring first-offs using hand tools like Verniers and micrometers before proceeding with further machining.
  • Identify and select the tools needed for each task and escalate any issues to the Production Supervisor.
  • Follow company procedures, practices, and policies.
  • Ensure all tasks meet the requirements of ISO 9001 and OEL Quality Systems and Procedures.
  • Comply with OEL’s Health & Safety Systems and Procedures.
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in a similar manual milling role is essential.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and communicate technical engineering drawings.
  • Manual Handling and Overhead Crane training/experience are required.
  • Relevant apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Engineering/Machining is desirable.
  • Strong team-working and communication skills.
  • A flexible and proactive approach to work.
  • Proven planning and organizational skills to meet departmental and business objectives.
  • Ability to maintain the integrity of the company’s operations while meeting deadlines.
