MTrec’s New Client Opportunity

Our client is an established, highly prestigious, and successful blue-chip manufacturing company based in the Cramlington area. They are now looking for an experienced Production and Assembly Supervisor to join their team in a full time and permanent basis. The role is a hands-on supervisory role that manages the flow of work through the shop floor at optimum efficiency, to make sure the highest quality standards are adhered to. It is vital you have will have worked in a complex, multi-stage high value manufacturing and assembly process, where the quality of the product and the process is the number one priority. You will be joining a market leading and highly prestigious organisation, where your attention to detail, ability to supervise and lead from the front and overall focus on the right results will enable you to be highly successful within this fantastic Northumberland employer.

The job you will be doing

  • Management of a team of approximately 10-12 direct reports
  • Work with colleagues in other departments to ensure the flow of work to and from the shop floor area is at optimum efficiency
  • Issuing work to team members, and ensuring it is complete to the standard in a timely manner
  • Attend daily Production meetings and work with colleagues across departments to solve production issues raised proactively
  • Support the Product Development team in building quotations
  • Assessing needs for raw materials on a twice weekly basis, ordering to meet the requirements of the jobs detailed in the production plan
  • Ensure that production meets quality standards and customer satisfaction
  • Ensure that the production floor is safe and clean, and that employees adhere to safety standards such as good practice in machine usage, maintaining safety check records and adherence to PPE
  • Provide guidance to production team members, managing attendance, holidays and, with support from management and HR, dealing with any issues that arise
  • Communicate with other departments to ensure effective production, and communicate with the team to deliver shift briefs
  • Ensure strong processes are in place that provide a consistent high standard of Health and Safety in the working environment including areas such as PPE and machine checks
  • Act as a mentor and coach 'in the minute’ as well as organise focused training to improve quality and efficiency with a specific focus on developing a culture of multi skilling across the 3 areas of the business. Ensure all training records are maintained in an effective system that enables regular updating
  • Work with the production manager and other teams to suggest and implement ways to improve production efficiency and safety

About You

  • Previous experience as an Assembly or Production Supervisor is essential.
  • A background working in a high value engineering and assembly environment is essential. You will have worked with precision engineered components, ensuring the highest quality of products and standards at all times.
  • The process is a multi-stage, complex production and assembly operation, with a great emphasis on the quality of the product. If you have worked in the oil and gas industry, precision engineering and assembly, high value, regulated sector manufacturing or similar, then you will have suitable process experience.
  • The ability to be hands on and lead from the front is essential.
  • Experience of developing and implementing a number of continuous improvement projects.
  • Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
  • IT proficiency with systems such as Excel
  • Ability to problem solve and work to tight deadlines
  • Can lead and influence a team
  • Quality focused with a keen eye for detail
  • Positive can-do attitude, responsible and reliable
  • Flexible and positive approach to attendance and timekeeping
