Field Service Engineer
Location: Crawley (Field Based)
Hours: Average 47.5 hours per week, including 1 in 3 Saturdays and 1 in 12 Sundays
My client is a market-leading provider of cleaning equipment. With over 50 years of expertise, this company is a trusted partner across industries such as retail, healthcare, manufacturing, and education.
They are expanding their team and are looking for a Field Service Engineer to join.
Role Overview
As a Field Service Engineer, you'll be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and servicing a diverse range of industrial cleaning machinery. You will work independently, ensuring that service and repairs are completed within the required Service Level Agreements (SLAs), guaranteeing high customer satisfaction levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivering high-quality service and repair for various cleaning machinery, including vacuum cleaners, pressure washers, scrubbers, and sweepers.
- Ensuring all service and repairs are completed within agreed SLAs.
- Attending follow-up calls to complete repairs when additional parts are required.
- Conducting scheduled planned maintenance and Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) calls.
- Maintaining Health and Safety standards in all work carried out.
- Using the central database (SERVICESMARTPro) to accurately update job information in real-time.
- Ordering parts via the system and ensuring van stock levels are maintained.
- Regularly reviewing and maintaining vehicle conditions to represent the company brand professionally.
- Attending service and business review meetings as required.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- A degree or equivalent certification in mechanical or electrical engineering is preferred.
- Relevant certifications or training in industrial equipment repair and maintenance (e.g., Certified Industrial Maintenance Mechanic) is advantageous.
- Full UK manual driving licence is essential.
- Proven experience diagnosing, servicing, and repairing industrial cleaning equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Experience in field service engineering, ideally in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Proficient IT skills, including experience with tablet devices for reporting and diagnostics.
- A customer-focused mindset and a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
- Strong physical condition, capable of manual handling, including lifting heavy machinery.
