Hours: 08:45 - 17:15 Monday - FridaySite Location: Commutable from Crawley, Horsham, East Grinstead, Redhill, Croydon, Brighton and surrounding areasCompanyA leading manufacturing company are looking for an Engineering Support Technician. This position would suit a graduate or a candidate with some experience.The company have around 130 staff across UK, USA & Europe - 115 staff in UK. They are well established with a low staff turnover, mostly due to the fact they are a good company to work for with their open and transparent communication, offering careers rather than just jobs.

Extensive training is provided for all staff. You will be given in house training in production to gain knowledge of their product range, and see the flow of materials from goods in, to assembly (electrical/electronic & mechanical), test (full system testing, analysis & fault finding) and despatch.

As well as In house Navision MRP training from department staff.

Responsibilities

  • To be an integral part of the Engineering team starting to work under own initiative.
  • Co-ordinate and prepare sheetfed folders, working from the order acknowledgement, technical specification and relevant quotation details to create the required documentation to construct a UV/IR/LED system.
  • Compiling top level / sub BOMs using Inventor to give Purchasing, Sales and Production a visual representation of the system being dispatched. Ensure continuity and flow of information, following set processes.
  • Check the mechanical and electrical parts are of the latest specification and meet the requirements of the system ordered.
  • Setting system parameters, using templates as guidance, on our clients Remote Monitoring system.
  • Co-ordinate and prepare sheetfed requirements and relative information for customers. Supporting with ensuring customer requirements prior to install are fulfilled. This includes a general awareness of sheetfed systems in Design / Production.
  • Support Design Engineering by creating 2D drawings for factory schematics. This could involve liaising with customers directly to finalise layouts.
  • Understanding the customers’ requirements to ensure the fan, water, ducting and cabling requirements are communicated clearly. Ensure customers are aware of their responsibilities prior to installation.

Requirements

  • HNC/HND, City & Guilds Level 3, BTEC or an apprenticeship in an engineering discipline (could be degree qualified, could be BEng, BSc)
  • Understanding in the construction of mechanical BOMs (Bill of Materials)
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings
  • Ability to work displaying organisation, enthusiasm & own initiative
  • Multi-task with simultaneous projects meeting tight cost and time restraints (often a week or less)
  • Computer literate (Word, Excel - intermediate level)
  • Good communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Must speak clear fluent English (including technical vocabulary)
  • Current manual driving licence

Beneficial skills

  • Experience in a similar role within Engineering Support
  • Practical background with qualification or experience
  • Some experience of a Design Software (e.g. 2D: AutoCAD, 3D: Inventor, Solid Works, Solid Edge, Catia or equivalent) (Our clients operational CAD system is Inventor Suite - with 3D: Autodesk Inventor & AutoCAD Mechanical desktop (for older 2D drawings))
  • Knowledge of / qualifications in / experience with an Electrical discipline
