Design Engineer

Location: Crewe

Salary £30-35K DOE

Our client is looking for a design engineer to deliver projects on time and within budget. You will prepare designs to meet

relevant Legislation and Standards, managing the Technicians to support the project deliverables.

  • Deliver projects on time and within budget, adhering to relevant legislation and standards.
  • Manage technicians to support project deliverables and play the role of Contractor's Responsible Engineer (CRE) where required.
  • Produce essential project documentation such as drawings, risk assessments, cost estimates, and feasibility studies.
  • Conduct risk assessments, method statements, and work package plans.
  • Report and close out accidents, incidents, close calls, and near misses while also conducting site inspections and surveys.
  • Perform design development reviews and respond to design review notices (DRNs).
  • Ensure designs comply with British, European, and Railway Group Standards.
  • Manage internal and external technical queries and requests for further information (RFIs).
  • Lead the design team, ensuring performance, competence, and training needs are met while maintaining records.
  • Monitor project progress, record working hours, and manage team fatigue risks while approving timesheets.

Requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer with a relevant institution PWI, ICE, IStructE
  • Civil or structural background
  • Competent in design delivery

  • Have a good understanding of the environment and delivery of civil engineering design within in
