An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical Accountant.

This is a maternity cover for 6-9Months

What you'll do:

As a Technical Accountant, your role will be pivotal in maintaining financial integrity within the organisation. You'll be tasked with preparing underwriting data in the company's general ledger, ensuring its accuracy and completeness. Your excellent attention to detail will be utilised as you reconcile general ledger interfaces to cash transactions, profitability reports and other reporting. Your ability to create manual journal entries for non-interfaced business and for ledger corrections will be crucial. Additionally, you'll prepare sales invoices and process vendor invoices following correct approval and payment processes. Your role will also involve ensuring period end provisions have been correctly made, recording transactions at the necessary level of detail for future reporting, creating cash transfer requests with appropriate journals, reconciling insurance control accounts between departments, reporting IPT liabilities, reconciling IPT balances and cash transfers, and preparing balance sheet reconciliation for specified accounts.

  • Prepare underwriting data in the company's general ledger
  • Ensure adequate controls are maintained through balance sheet and underwriting reconciliations
  • Reconcile general ledger interfaces to cash transactions and profitability reports
  • Create manual journal entries for non-interfaced business and for ledger corrections
  • Prepare sales invoices and process vendor invoices following correct approval and payment processes
  • Ensure period end provisions for unearned premium, deferred expenses, outstanding claims and IBNR have been correctly made
  • Record transactions at the level of detail required for future reporting
  • Create cash transfer requests with appropriate journals and reconcile insurance control accounts between departments
  • Report IPT liabilities, reconcile IPT balances and cash transfers
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliation for specified accounts

What you bring:

As a Technical Accountant, you bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to this role. (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with a high level of technical proficiency. Your advanced spreadsheet skills will be put to good use, as will your strong accounting skills and desire to develop new solutions. You have experience with PeopleSoft, Felita or equivalent such as SAP, and experience of AS400 is desirable but not essential. Crucially, you have experience within the insurance industry.
