Your new companyThis managed service provider works with numerous schools across the North West, and due to continued presence and growth in the Crewe area, they have approached Hays seeking to appoint an IT Technician/IT Engineer to join their team. The business has an excellent reputation for the high level of service they provide to both primary and secondary schools across the North West, with a full-time presence at some secondary schools. This particular role is to be based at a Crewe secondary school, with a couple of days a week also based at the head office to work alongside the wider team of IT technicians. Your new roleReporting to the IT Service Delivery Manager, you will be working at a secondary school 3 days a week, with the other 2 days spent at the Head Office working with the wider team. Your primary responsibility will be to provide a high level of IT support to pupils and staff at this busy secondary school, ensuring that teaching and learning is enhanced through the provision of proactive IT support. On a daily basis, this will involve responding to helpdesk tickets which could relate to a wide range of issues such as hardware, software, networking or bespoke educational technologies, and you will therefore develop a varied skill set and have the opportunity to learn about new technologies. You will be installing and upgrading new hardware and software, working on the implementation of new technologies and also supporting the delivery of any IT projects required in school. The additional 2 days at head office, you will support the delivery of wide-scale IT projects whilst also responding to helpdesk tickets for additional schools in the local area. What you'll need to succeedIn order to be successful in securing this position, you must possess significant IT support experience working in a hands-on IT support environment, ideally with experience in the education sector, however, this isn't essential. In addition, you will have excellent communication and relationship building skills, as well as the passion and drive to deliver a high level of IT support, ensuring customers are at the forefront of your mind when responding to IT requests. You will be a proactive individual who is able to think outside the box and who is keen to further develop your IT skills and knowledge. What you'll get in returnIn return, you will be paid a competitive salary of between £27,000 and £29,000, receiving regular pay reviews and the opportunity to further develop your skills and therefore further progress your career. Benefits will include a holiday allowance starting at 26 days, plus bank holidays, plus a shutdown over Christmas and the added bonus of your birthday off.
