Elevation Recruitment Group is delighted to be partnering with a leading rail business in the search for a Category Manager to join their procurement team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in managing and optimising procurement categories within a dynamic and growing organisation.

The Role:

As Category Manager, you will be responsible for leading the strategic procurement of key categories, ensuring value for money, supplier performance, and long-term business efficiency. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you will drive category strategies that align with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement category strategies to optimise cost, quality, and supply chain resilience.

  • Lead supplier negotiations and manage key supplier relationships to ensure performance, compliance, and cost efficiency.

  • Conduct market analysis to identify opportunities for innovation and cost savings.

  • Work collaboratively with internal departments to ensure procurement strategies support overall business goals.

  • Manage tenders, contracts, and supplier agreements in line with company policies and regulations.

  • Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure supply chain continuity.

Key Requirements:
  • Proven experience in a Category Manager, Procurement Manager, or similar role.

  • Strong background in strategic sourcing and category management, ideally within the rail or a similar industry.

  • Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

  • CIPS qualification (or working towards) is desirable.
