We are seeking an Employee Relations Advisor to provide first-line Human Resources advice and support to a local hospital's employees and managers, ensuring adherence to the Trust’s policies and procedures and good employment practices. This role is integral to the HR team, working in partnership with Senior ER Advisors and the HR Business Partnering team to deliver an effective HR service.
Employee Relations Advisor's Day-to-Day Responsibilities:- First-Line HR Support: Provide advice and guidance on managing both short-term and long-term sickness absence, supporting managers through the entire process, including termination hearings if necessary.
- Manage Complex Cases: Handle complex sickness-related absence cases, arrange and attend review meetings, and liaise with Occupational Health.
- Handle Various HR Cases: Manage cases related to fixed-term contracts, professional registrations, visa renewals, flexible working requests, and probation periods across the Trust.
- Lead on Flexible Working: Oversee flexible working applications and appeals, advising managers on impacts and supporting decision-making processes.
- Support Professional Registration and Visa Cases: Manage cases where professional registration or visas have expired, participate in suspension meetings and disciplinary hearings.
- Documentation and Systems Management: Produce and collate documentation for formal hearings and ensure accurate updating of the ESR case management systems.
- General HR Advice: Provide general HR advice to all Trust staff, interpret Trust policies to ensure compliance, and offer guidance on a wide range of employee relations matters.
- Proven experience in an HR or ER role, ideally within a healthcare or similar setting.
- Strong understanding of HR policies and procedures, particularly those related to sickness and absence management.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of handling sensitive information and complex situations with diplomacy and confidentiality.
- Ability to work autonomously, managing time and diary commitments effectively.
- Experience in handling a variety of ER cases, including complex and sensitive cases.
