Do you have experience working with different types of business clients? Do you have previous experience as a H&S Advisor or Consultant? Do you enjoy helping businesses achieve high levels of health and safety? If so this could be the role for you!

We are looking for an experienced health and safety professional to visit our range of clients located in and around London, and to share their health and safety knowledge, skills and experience to assist them. Access to company pool car subject to insurance approval.

Summary:

  • Applicants must be based in the UK and within an easy commute of our Croydon-based office
  • Must have a valid UK driving licence and either their own car or able to use a company pool car
  • Must be able to work in the UK – right to work checks must be made.
  • Education: H&S Qualification such as NEBOSH / IOSH / NCRQ General Certificate or Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in practical health and safety role
  • Full Time Position
  • Monday to Friday 9am-5.30pm. 1 hour lunch per day. 37½ hour working week.
  • Starting Salary £31,200 rises upon successful Probation to £32,700
  • Probation Period: 3 Months + monthly appraisal/feedback meetings
  • Pay Review: Annually in April
  • Holidays: 30 days per year inclusive of bank holidays
  • Pension: NEST
  • £5 monthly clothing cleaning allowance
  • Potential Commission structure

Work Base:

Work location will be a mixture of the following:

  • Office based in Croydon (CR0 9AG postcode but subject to flexibility if the company moves).
  • Client premises across a variety of locations in Croydon and Bromley as well as inner and outer London regions.

Ideal qualities:

  • A good general and practical working knowledge, and ability to assess, workplace health and safety in a variety of different business sites and types including construction and non-construction businesses.
  • Knowledge of general fire, health and safety and willing to continue to learn.
  • Ability to conduct short H&S training sessions with Clients – either in office, on Zoom/Teams or on the Client site.
  • Good IT skills and able to liaise effectively with all of the Safety is the Key Ltd team.
  • The ability to build and maintain diplomatic client relationships.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Understanding of H&S related jargon such as COSHH, PPE, RAMS, RIDDOR etc.
  • A positive and flexible approach to work and to our clients.

Work tasks:

  • Visit a variety of client locations to hand-over and demonstrate the H&S Folder we create.
  • Carry out customer care visits to answer health and safety queries.
  • Undertake on-site basic risk assessment, simple inspections, investigations and H&S Audits using checklists and phone software such as Safety Culture (training provided).
  • Flexibility to carry out a range of office admin duties such as update H&S Folders, filing, spreadsheets, client calls, postage works and general office work.
  • Assist in writing H&S Newsletters for Clients.
  • Help promote our H&S client support services and packages.
  • Carry out occasional networking visits such as early morning BNI breakfast meetings.
  • Undertake on-site or Zoom/Teams H&S training or ToolBox Talk session with Clients.
  • Work on client SSIP Accreditations such as CHAS, Safecontractor and Constructionline.
  • Update documents and advise on general H&S workplace matters.

The role requires that you regularly support and visit our clients at their premises such as shops, offices, warehouses, factories, workshops, hotels, schools, car garages, restaurants and small construction sites.

You must be highly aware of your own safety and use PPE as and when required.

You will be given initial and on-going training and support by staff but also be able to self-manage your workload with the assistance of the office staff.

You will be encouraged to undertake CPD (continual professional development).

A formal Contract of Employment will be prepared and issued to you on day one of employment (or sooner).
