We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and proactive ER Manager to join our Human Resources team within a dynamic organisation.About the RoleAs an ER Manager, you will play a key role in providing a highly professional and efficient Employee Relations service. Working closely with the Head of Employee Relations, you will oversee the ER team, ensuring all investigations and casework are completed to a high standard and within required timeframes. A key focus of this role will be to embed a restorative approach to people management, promoting informal resolution as the preferred method for handling workplace conflicts.You will be responsible for managing and developing the Senior ER Advisors, ensuring a fair and transparent process is followed across all employee relations cases. In addition, you will support managers across the organisation, empowering them to handle people management issues effectively and independently.Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert, professional ER advice and guidance in line with policies, employment legislation, and best practice.
  • Lead on highly complex ER cases, including investigations, hearings, and formal processes.
  • Ensure all ER cases are managed efficiently, maintaining confidentiality and compliance with best practice guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively with HR Business Partners and senior management to improve case handling and investigation processes.
  • Line manage and develop the Senior ER Advisors, overseeing workload allocation and ensuring cases are completed to a high standard.
  • Write and update employment policies in accordance with employment law and best practice.
  • Deliver training sessions and workshops to upskill managers in handling people management issues.
  • Support the Head of ER in producing KPI reports, analysing ER trends, and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Maintain effective relationships with Trade Unions, legal advisors, and senior stakeholders within the organisation.
  • Deputise for the Head of Employee Relations as required.
What We Are Looking For:
  • Significant experience in Employee Relations, ideally within a complex organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, HR policies, and best practice.
  • Experience in managing complex ER cases, including investigations and formal hearings.
  • Proven ability to influence, coach, and support managers in handling people management issues.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience in managing and developing a team.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to analyse ER data and identify trends to drive improvements.
  • Experience of working with Trade Unions and legal advisors.
