Track Technician

Job Type: Contract, Full-Time

Salary: £21 Per hour + Holiday pay

Job Duties:
  • Inspect and maintain railway tracks to ensure safety and efficiency
  • Repair and replace damaged or worn track components
  • Operate track maintenance equipment and tools
  • Follow safety procedures and regulations at all times
  • Report any track issues or maintenance needs to supervisors
  • inspecting the track (both visually and using measuring equipment) for signs of damage or deterioration
  • checking that the rails are stable and properly aligned to cope with the speed and weight of the trains using them
  • testing the rails using ultrasound
  • prioritising work and organising appropriate materials, equipment and staff to be onsite
  • assisting with site/track surveys.
Required Qualifications/Experience:
  • Previous experience in track maintenance or a related field
  • Previous S&C knowledge is required
  • Knowledge of railway track systems and components
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Education:
  • Relevant vocational training or certification is a plus
Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in track maintenance or a similar role
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Understanding of track inspection and maintenance procedures
  • Ability to use track maintenance tools and equipment
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Additional certification in track maintenance or related field
  • Experience with specific track maintenance software or systems
Working Conditions:
  • Full-time position with regular hours
  • Mixture of nights + Days (example, 2-3 weeks nights and then 2-3 weeks days)
  • Work primarily outdoors on railway tracks
  • Potential exposure to noise, fumes, and other hazards
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and work in various physical positions
