We have an exciting new role for a Property Stores Assistant with Gwent Police, at the Cwmbran Police Station.

Must have Full UK Driving Licence.
Must be physically fit and able to lift and carry heavy items up to 15 kilos in weight.

PLEASE NOTE DUE TO POLICE VETTING CRITERIA YOU MUST HAVE BEEN RESIDING WITHIN THE UK CONTINUOUSLY FOR AT LEAST 3 YEARS AT TIME OF APPLICATION.

Working hours - Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week


Key Activities/Elements


1.

To follow the Programme of Work set by the EPU Lead, ensuring that deadlines are met.


2.

To audit evidential property ensuring It is retained or disposed of in accordance with force policy and legislation (CPIA, PoFA and MoPI guidelines), ensuring preservation of evidence at all times.


3.

To highlight items of evidential property that has been identified for central disposal. This will include collating the items for all central disposals or for sale via eBay or Wilson's Auction.


4.

To highlight exhibits incorrectly packaged as pass to the EPU Lead for action


5.

To collate items identified for return to owner, and store appropriately


6.

To comply with force operating procedures for operation of equipment, ensuring compliance with statutory health and safety duties, and to report incident, accidents, faults to the Property Project Co-Ordinator.


7.

To highlight instances of risk from hazardous material that may cause fire or contamination to store property to the EPU Lead

EDUCATION/RELEVANT EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of five grade A-C GCSE's or the equivalent minimum standards or possess relevant experience.
  • Must be able to demonstrate previous experience of working in a secure stores environment.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate effectively at all levels.
    An understanding of the seizure, preservation, storage and disposal of Evidential Property is desirable.

SKILLS

An understanding of the criminal justice process in relation to the continuity and submission of court exhibits and the defence disclosure process is desirable.

Must be able to demonstrate a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

A good knowledge of stores administration, procedures and practices is desirable.

An understanding of CPIA, PoFA and MoPI guidelines is desirable.

An understanding of ACPO, Home Office and NPIA guidance relating to the seizure, storage and disposal of property is desirable.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be prepared to undertake NICHE RMS and NICHE Property Training.
  • Must have Full UK Driving Licence
  • Must have the ability to travel independently to given locations both within and outside the Force area.
  • Must be able to drive Force vehicles including light goods vehicles.
  • Must be physically fit and able to lift and carry heavy items up to 15 kilos in weight.
  • Must be able and willing to operate stores equipment up to an operating height of at least 6 metres.
  • Must be able to undertake relevant training to develop a firm understanding of the legislation relating to the seizure, retention and disposal of property, including the rules of continuity and disclosure of evidence.
