Job Title: Management AccountantSalary: £50,000 - £55,000 per annum depending on experienceLocation: Dartford Reporting to: Financial Controller / Chief Financial Officer Job PurposeThe Management Accountant will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer, Financial Controller, and Financial Accountant to ensure accurate accounting across all entities within the group. The role will also involve providing financial advice and support to colleagues, enabling informed business decisions. Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and interpret financial information, ensuring the timely production of monthly Management Accounts within five business days of the month-end.
  • Prepare year-end schedules and act as one of the lead contacts for the audit field team.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns for the UK and Ireland, ensuring compliance with tax legislation, including timely reporting and payment submissions to HMRC.
  • Oversee and manage all accounting responsibilities for the Bathroom Brands distribution business (direct from Asia), in collaboration with the team in Singapore.
  • Maintain and enhance the internal control system, regularly reviewing and implementing improvements as needed.
  • Conduct cost-reduction analysis and identify areas for financial efficiency.
  • Communicate financial performance against budget to Directors and departmental heads on a monthly basis, investigating and challenging any variances.
  • Produce accurate financial reports to meet deadlines.
  • Research and report on factors influencing business performance.
  • Develop financial management mechanisms to minimize financial risk.
  • Stay updated with changes in financial regulations and legislation.
  • Perform key accounting duties, including bank and balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, variance analysis, and foreign exchange reconciliations.
  • Support other finance team members with ad hoc projects as required.
Key Skills & Experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in a Management Accounting role within a corporate or large SME finance department.
  • CIMA/ACCA qualified or finalist.
  • Proven ability to effectively supervise an Accounts Assistant.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Confident decision-maker with the ability to drive efficient financial processes and procedures.
  • Experience in preparing management and statutory accounts to a high standard.
  • Proficiency in MS Dynamics 365 is desirable.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with various accounting software/ERP systems.
