LAB TECHNICIAN - UP TO £13.50 PAYE- DARWEN - 12 MONTHS (EXTENDABLE) 4 DAY WEEK (MON-THURS) - 37 HOURS PER WEEK (OVERTIME PREMIUM RATE) - ONSITE ROLE - SINGLE STAGE INTERVIEW ONSITE

MERITUS are recruiting for a experienced Lab Technician to support the quality and testing team.

As a Lab Technician, you will be responsible for conducting quality control tests, inspections, and analyses on composite and metal components to ensure compliance with aerospace standards. This role requires a keen eye for detail, familiarity with laboratory equipment, and a strong commitment to upholding our quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct tests and inspections on composite and metal components to verify material properties, dimensions, and adherence to specifications.
  • Utilize laboratory equipment such as microscopes, tensile testers, and hardness testers for precise analysis.
  • Record and analyse test data, compiling reports to document findings and deviations.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to communicate test results and suggest improvements when necessary.
  • Perform regular calibration and maintenance of lab equipment to ensure accurate results.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe laboratory environment, adhering to all safety protocols.

Skillset/experience required:

  • Proven experience as a Lab Technician, preferably in the aerospace, automotive, or manufacturing industry.
  • Familiarity with composite and metal materials and testing procedures.
  • Proficiency in using laboratory testing equipment, including tensile testers, hardness testers, and microscopes.
  • Strong understanding of quality control principles and attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and testing standards.

Desirable

  • Technical certification or associate degree in materials science, engineering, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of aerospace quality standards, such as AS9100 or NADCAP.
  • Experience with data recording and analysis software.
