Long-Term Teachers is supporting a fantastic special educational needs school, based in Dawlish, providing outstanding education and care for 200 students aged 3-19. As a learning support assistant, you will play a pivotal role in nurturing young learners who have additional needs such as communication and interaction difficulties, learning needs and autism.

About the role:

  • Assist students within the classroom, helping them with their learning and enabling them to remain focused and engaged

  • Establish supportive relationships with students

  • Work with small groups of students or individuals to help with specific tasks or run interventions to support learning

  • Administrative tasks including supporting feedback on pupil progress and monitoring EHCP’s

  • Supervise students outside of the classroom, during break times

  • Provide emotional support to students when required

  • Assist with resourcing lessons, creating classroom displays and ensuring all equipment is readily available for the teacher and students

About you:

  • Passionate, hard-working and empathetic

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN is advantageous

  • You will lead by example and be an excellent role model for the students

  • Good knowledge of the educational system and strategies to support young people

  • Great sense of humour

  • Excellent team player

Surrounded by beautiful woodland and near the seaside, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved in fulfilling activities outside of the classroom. With an adapted curriculum, no two days are the same.

A full induction and training will be provided and you will receive ongoing professional development opportunities. This will be a full time role, working Monday to Friday, term time only. If you prove to be a valuable asset, there is the opportunity to make this position permanent.
