Financial Accountant (FTC) | Derby | £35,000 - £40,000 | Large Global Group | 15 Month Contract

This fixed-term contract offers a great opportunity to showcase your financial skills while covering an essential role for 15 months. If you're experienced in accruals, general ledger management, enjoy a supportive team environment and want to gain more experience at a large global group.

Based at the Derbysite as Financial Accountant for a large global group, you'll be pivotal in managing core accounting duties across UK and international entities, particularly during quarter-end close cycles. Working closely with an experienced team, you'll handle general ledger management, accruals, prepayments, balance sheet reconciliationsand VAT Returns as well as gaining exposure to audit processes, fixed asset accounting, and intercompany balances.

Key Responsibilities:

  • General Ledger Management: Take ownership of ledger entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Quarter-End Closing: Drive quarter-end close processes in line with internal deadlines (4 day closing window)
  • Accruals & Prepayments: Process accruals and prepayments accurately, contributing to month-end readiness.
  • VAT Compliance: Manage VAT entries for UK and Dutch entities.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with team members, providing insights to improve processes and enhance team growth.

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience: ideally a part-qualified professional with a background in accruals, prepayments, and general ledger management with at least 4 years' experience in a UK accounting role.
  • Organisation: deadlines can be tight at times, so you need to stay on top of your workload and ensure timescales are stuck to.
  • Excel: you should have experience regularly using Excel and have an understanding of intermediate level formulas (VLOOKUPS, SUMIFS etc.)
  • Initiative & Teamwork: Strong communicator with a proactive mindset and experience working collaboratively.

Package:

  • Salary of up to £40,000 (depending on experience) + Bonus
  • Hybrid Working (3 days in the office, 2 from home)
