Job DescriptionWe are currently seeking a dedicated and passionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a child with ASD/ADHD in a primary school setting. This is a full-time position with the potential to continue until July 2025. In this role, you will play a key part in helping the child engage in their learning, develop social and emotional skills, and make progress in their academic journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support for a child with ASD/ADHD, assisting them in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities.
  • Support the child's emotional and social development, helping them build positive relationships with peers and staff.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to implement individualised learning plans and strategies.
  • Assist with behaviour management, ensuring a calm and productive environment for the child.
  • Support the child with activities both in the classroom and during outdoor breaks, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Help prepare resources and materials tailored to the child's needs to aid in their learning.
  • Monitor and record the child's progress, providing feedback to the teacher and other relevant staff.

Required Skills and QualificationsThe ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working with children who have special educational needs, particularly ASD and/or ADHD.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional learning needs and a commitment to helping them reach their full potential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to form positive relationships with both children and staff.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to supporting the child in a variety of classroom and social settings.
  • A relevant qualification (e.g., CACHE Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent)
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to think creatively to support the child's learning and development.
