Finance Business Partner - Projects

Location: Derby (Flexible/Remote options available)

We are currently recruiting for a Finance Business Partner - Projects on behalf of a huge client within the engineering and technology / sustainability space.

This is a high-impact role, where you'll take financial ownership of long-term, multi-million-pound contracts and R&D projects. You'll work closely with senior management, providing vital financial guidance to drive profitability and ensure efficient delivery of large-scale projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead financial reporting and controlling for major customer contracts and development projects.
  • Manage the Project EAC (Estimate at Completion), including re-forecasts and budgets, ensuring assumptions are robust and risk mitigation strategies are in place.
  • Oversee cash flow management, identify risks/opportunities, and ensure timely invoicing and cash receipts.
  • Provide financial insights for customer bids, variations, and strategy development.
  • Take ownership of project financial performance reporting, partnering with project teams to drive efficiencies and meet cost-saving targets.

Key Results:

  • On-time submission of forecasts and budgets.
  • Achieving financial targets and delivering positive business partner feedback.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent) with proven experience in project financial controlling for multi-million-pound projects.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS15 and experience in percentage completion accounting.
  • Proven track record of influencing senior management through financial insights.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills; SAP experience is advantageous.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and the ability to challenge and influence business partners effectively.
