The Company

Loom Talent have been retained by a leading Logistics provider, based at East Midlands Airport - Castle Donington in their search for a dynamic Import Manager to join their team.

The Role

This pivotal role will see you managing a team of 3 x Administrators while working closely with the Export Manager to oversee smooth, efficient inbound operations. You'll be handling ocean and air freight from global suppliers in various countries including; Bangladesh, India, China, and Indonesia, ensuring seamless delivery and compliance at every stage.

  • Oversee all inbound freight operations, including ocean and air shipments, from sourcing countries.
  • Manage and develop a team of 3 x Import Administrators, fostering their growth and productivity.
  • Collaborate with the Export Manager to streamline end-to-end operations.
  • Liaise with freight forwarders, suppliers, and customs to ensure compliance with UK regulations.
  • Monitor shipping schedules, resolve delays, and ensure cost-effective delivery.
  • Analyse and optimise import processes to enhance efficiency and service quality.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of import/export regulations and ensure the team's adherence.

The Candidate

The successful candidate for the Import Manager role will have the following skills & experiences;

  • A Logistics Distribution and Supply Chain background - Essential.
  • 3+ years proven experience in an import operations role, ideally within Logistics or Supply Chain - Essential.
  • Strong knowledge of ocean and air freight processes and customs compliance - Essential.
  • Supervisor skills with the ability to manage and develop a small team - Essential.
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities, with a keen eye for detail - Essential.
  • Familiarity with markets such as Bangladesh, India, China, and Indonesia - Advantageous.
  • Proficient in using logistics and ERP systems - Advantageous.

The Salary & Package

  • Salary - £45,000 - £50,000.
