Day to Day Duties

As a Transport Planning and Development Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Creating and maintaining daily asset resource plans while adapting to changing priorities and keeping stakeholders informed.
  • Identifying periods of under-utilisation and collaborating with partners to maximise value-added activities.
  • Producing daily, weekly, and monthly reports to track performance and identify trends.
  • Ensuring transport technology is utilised to its full potential.
  • Monitoring transport productivity measures and implementing improvements where necessary.
  • Acting as the primary contact for resource-related projects and activities, and representing the Transport Management team during performance reviews and other forums.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in transport planning.
  • Strong understanding of logistics and supply chain operations, with expertise in transport management.
  • Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a high degree of initiative.
  • Proficiency in compiling and interpreting transport-related commercial and operational data.
  • Experience using digital planning software such as Paragon or DiPS.
  • Familiarity with tracking solutions like Microlise.

Desirable Experience

  • Recently completed a Certified Transport Manager Refresher Course (or equivalent qualification).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Leadership experience, with the ability to motivate teams and resolve conflicts.
  • Knowledge of risk management in transport operations.
