Due to a number of exciting change and transformational activities across the Rolls-Royce business we are now seeking to add a number ofMechanical Integrity Engineers to work across Stress, Critical Parts Lifting and Structural Systems Design disciplines.

The Mechanical Integrity Engineerwill join the Team in support a number of Defence Programmes, including New Product Introduction (NPI) and Mature Programmes. You will be based in Bristol 3 days per week, with 2 days spent remote working.

Youll be responsible for:

  • Resolving problems through evaluative judgements, analysing factual information from multiple sources, interpreting results and identifying effective solutions by the application of technical knowledge, expertise and engineering judgement.
  • Conducting mechanical experiments. This includes preparation of experiment specification for tests on test rigs and engines, ensuring safe experiment execution, accurate results of the test, analysis and interpretation of test results, and comparison with analytical and/or empirical models.
  • Conducting mechanical design and analysis and supporting the identification and implementation of continuous improvements to tools methods and processes.
  • Being responsible for defined technical packages/investigations of work as part of a multi discipline team, providing delivery against programme milestones within agreed cost, timescale, and quality requirements.

What were looking for:

  • Experience in a similar Mechanical Integrity Engineering position, having experience across Stress, Critical Parts Lifting and Structural Systems Design engineering disciplines.
  • Strong technical knowledge in mechanical design assessment methodologies e.g. stress analysis both static and dynamic, fracture and fatigue assessments, working with novel designs and problems with the ability to work outside established technical processes
  • Experience of FEA techniques (e.g. ANSYS, ABAQUS, MSC Nastran, Altair) and complex testing (of assemblies, component, and materials).
  • An understanding of material behaviour, crack propagation, contact, thermo-mechanical fatigue, and statistics.
  • Basic knowledge of bespoke coding tools for automation and data processing is desirable e.g. writing scripts in MATLAB, VBA or Python.
  • Within Mechanical Integrity there are three distinct disciplines; Stress, Critical Parts Lifting and Structural Systems Design (SSD). Successful candidates would be aligned to the most appropriate role via the interview process.
