Reed is collaborating with one of the UK's largest independent surfacing contractor, renowned for its commitment to excellence and a collaborative team environment. We are looking for a Transport Planner to enhance our Operations team by managing the daily route planning of our transport fleet, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and safety.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Manage the planning, routing, and logistics of Low Loaders and Sprayers to optimise fleet efficiency.
  • Proactively address changes in demand to adjust transport plans accordingly.
  • Ensure effective communication of transport plans to all relevant parties.
  • Coordinate daily store runs for equipment refueling at various sites.
  • Negotiate with external transport suppliers to ensure adequate coverage at optimal rates.
  • Oversee scheduling of inspections, MOTs, servicing, and manage driver schedules including holidays.
  • Identify and address operational challenges and risks, and seek opportunities to enhance transport efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records in the haulage register for all externally sourced transport services.
  • Handle inquiries via phone and email promptly and efficiently.
  • Continuously seek improvements in transport operations and update internal systems with fleet and plant records.
  • Prepare transportation planning reports and provide general administrative support for the Transport department.
  • Participate in the ‘Out of Hours’ rota, requiring on-call availability from 18:00-23:00 on a rotational basis.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong computer skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise, and meet tight deadlines under pressure.
  • A diligent, conscientious, and analytical approach to tasks.
  • High standard of administration skills with systematic yet flexible planning capabilities.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify and implement innovative business practices.
