Role Overview

An experienced Quantity Surveyor with proven structural steel / steel structures experience, is required to join a continually growing, reputable structural company who work on a multitude of projects, including: structural buildings & cladding, rail, construction, rail, MOD, utilities and nuclear.

  • Salary £45,000 - £60,000 dependant on experience
  • Office based - Monday to Friday

Commutable From: Derby, Nottingham, Leicester, Burton upon Trent, Tamworth, Lichfield


Quantity Surveyor Candidate Requirements

  • Proven and experienced Quantity Surveyor, to include demonstrable work with Structural Steel projects.
  • Bachelors degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering would be ideal, but candidates without a degree will also be considered.
  • Membership or accreditation from recognized professional bodies such as the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).
  • Strong understanding of construction, material, and contract law is essential.
  • Skills in project management and budgeting are immensely beneficial.

The Quantity Surveyor role requires an amalgamation of analytical skills, precise judgment, and robust communication abilities. Detailed knowledge of construction processes, materials, and laws are fundamental, ensuring that projects are executed efficiently, economically, and legally compliant.


Quantity Surveyor Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of contract documents, including bills of quantities with the architect and/or the client.
  • Undertaking cost analysis for repair and maintenance project work.
  • Assisting in establishing a client's requirements and undertaking feasibility studies.
  • Performing risk, value management, and cost control during construction.
  • Providing advice on contractual claims and disputes.
  • Tracking changes to the design and/or construction work and adjusting budget projections accordingly.
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
