Your new companyWorking for a large regional public transport business as a skilled mechanic, you will be joining a team of experienced engineers ensuring the fleet of vehicles are in good condition and meet all relevant safety standards.Your new roleOn joining the team you will diagnose vehicle faults and specify the correct method of repair and parts to be used within defined quality standards. You will carry out vehicle servicing in accordance with central engineering SOPs, accurately recording job times for the repair action. You will ensure parts are replaced under warranty and all parts are booked out from stores and recorded accurately. Using hand held data capture devices you will perform and record routine vehicle examinations ensuring vehicles meet VOSA testing requirements, you will attend on-road vehicle breakdowns and recoveries, perform vehicle road tests, identifying any defects and managing any repairs.You will need to be familiar with diagnostic equipment including hydraulic flow meters, air and vacuum gauges, multi-meters, temperature gauges, micrometers, vernier gauges, engine and gearbox laptop testing equipment. You may be required to attend vehicle manufacturer product training courses, VOSA vehicle inspection training and specialist recovery training.What you'll need to succeedYou will hold NVQ level 3/ City & Guilds level 3, military apprenticeships such as REME are welcomed.
