At The Collective Network, we are working with a leading organisation in the commercial food sector to find a highly skilled Health & Safety Manager. This is a key role responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining robust health and safety policies to ensure a safe working environment across all operations.
The Role
As Health & Safety Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards, and company policies while fostering a strong safety culture. You will work proactively with all departments to minimise risks, prevent accidents, and drive continuous improvement in health and safety performance.
Key Responsibilities
Standards & Management Systems
- Lead site-specific health & safety projects, applying expertise to drive improvements.
- Manage the site risk assessment register, oversee action progress, and ensure completion of specialist risk assessments.
- Administer the Incident Management System, ensuring thorough investigations, root cause analysis, and appropriate resolutions.
- Establish systems to monitor and measure health & safety effectiveness, identifying non-conformities and implementing corrective actions.
Incident Management
- Support operations in managing incidents and emergencies, ensuring up-to-date procedures, drills, and emergency equipment.
- Conduct root cause analysis for all accidents and incidents.
- Provide detailed incident reports to senior management and external stakeholders.
- Develop and implement preventative measures, updating processes, procedures, equipment, and training to mitigate future risks.
Policy, Procedure & Training
- Ensure health & safety policies, procedures, and documentation are regularly reviewed and updated in response to incidents and improvement opportunities.
- Identify training needs, track compliance, and ensure resources are available.
Inspections & Audits
- Conduct scheduled and ad-hoc health & safety inspections and audits to drive improvements and ensure procedures are being followed.
Engagement & Communication
- Foster a strong health & safety culture by engaging with colleagues at all levels through behavioural observations, coaching, analysis, and open communication.
- Provide coaching, advice, and support to ensure robust and well-maintained safe systems of work.
- Facilitate effective communication across all channels, ensuring health & safety awareness through meetings, briefings, and site forums.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) in Occupational Health & Safety.
- Working knowledge and experience of ISO 45001/14001 management system standards, compliance, and auditing techniques.
- Proven experience in a Health & Safety management role, ideally within food production, agriculture, or FMCG industries.
- Previous experience conducting audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Strong knowledge of UK health & safety legislation.
Preferred:
- Chartered Membership of IOSH (or working towards).
