HR Manager

Location: Devizes, Wiltshire

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 - 17:00 (1-hour lunch break)

Salary: Up to 41,000 + Benefits

The Role:

As HR Manager, you will be part of a professional and experienced HR team, overseeing all aspects of the school's HR function. This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented individual who can manage recruitment, compliance, employee relations, payroll, and training initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Recruitment & Compliance:

  • Lead the recruitment process, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Manage job postings, shortlisting, and interviewing candidates.
  • Oversee onboarding, ensuring all necessary checks (DBS, references) are completed.

Employee Relations:

  • Act as the first point of contact for staff concerns and grievances.
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive work environment.
  • Facilitate communication between staff and leadership.

Benefits & Payroll:

  • Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing.
  • Administer staff benefits, holidays, and entitlements.
  • Support leadership in developing competitive salary structures and incentives.

Performance & Development:

  • Manage performance processes and ensure continuous professional development (CPD).
  • Support leadership with performance management, including underperformance issues.
  • Identify and address staff training needs.

HR Administration:

  • Maintain accurate HR records with confidentiality.
  • Provide HR reports on staffing levels, turnover, and training needs.

Who We're Looking For:

Qualifications & Experience:

Essential: CIPD Level 5 or equivalent qualification in HR Management.

Essential: Minimum of 2 years' experience in a busy HR generalist role.

Desirable: Experience in education, HR Management Systems, safeguarding regulations, and HR policy application.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
