We are currently recruiting on behalf of one of the UK’s leading providers of behavioural care and specialist support services, for a Consultant Psychiatrist in Older Adults (or General Adult Psychiatrist with experience in managing Dementia) to join the established team in an independent mental health hospital in Dewsbury

The hospital provides 32 beds, divided into two 16-bed wards for males who have mental health disorders. One is a level 2 Rehabilitation and Recovery Ward (Higher Support Needs). The second is a Neurocognitive service, specialising in dementia. Each service has a dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist who performs the duties of Responsible Clinician.

The available post is for the16 bedded Specialist Dementia Service.

An excellent opportunity for somebody looking to join an established team caring for individuals with Dementia. The ward is a 16 bedded male unit which provides a therapeutic environment for men with dementia. Most patients are under MHA and exhibit behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia. The Consultant will work closely with other experienced members of the MDT. The post would be suitable for an Older Adult Consultant Psychiatrist or a General Adult Psychiatrist, with experience of dementia.

Physical health input is provided by the on-site Specialist Physical Health Nurse and visiting GP.

What you need to apply

  • Ability to fulfil the role of Responsible Clinician.
  • You must hold a CCT (or equivalent) in Older Adult Psychiatry or hold a CCT (or equivalent) in General Adult Psychiatry and have extensive older adult experience.
  • Meet regulatory requirements, such as GMC registration and revalidation.
