Eventus Recruitment are seeking a Senior Criminal Defence Solicitor to join a team based in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire. This is a full-time, permanent job. Benefits include a generous holiday allowance, flexitime and hybrid working (up to two days remote per week, after probation).

Role Responsibilities

The incoming Criminal Defence Solicitor will be responsible for running a full caseload of Magistrates’ cases. Other duties include:

  • Attending Police Stations and Magistrates’ Courts, as part of the Court and Police Station Duty Rota Schemes.
  • Preparing cases for Magistrates’ Court.
  • Advising clients and taking accurate instructions.
  • Maintaining standards and compliance set by the Legal Aid Agency.

Person Specification

Applications are sought from Solicitors with experience in Criminal defence matters. Holding a Duty Solicitor Qualification would be an advantage, but not essential. You will also:

  • Be confident assisting with a varied caseload.
  • Possess a keen eye for detail.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Have the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
