Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a team working on a dynamic residential projects in Didcot. You will be involved in the development of housing and apartment schemes, with a significant focus on procurement, tendering, cost control, and reporting. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial success and smooth running of the project, managing costs and ensuring value for money throughout all stages of development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Procurement & Tendering: Lead and manage the procurement processes for contractors, suppliers, and services. Prepare and issue tender documents, evaluate bids, and assist with contractor selection.
- Cost Control & Management: Oversee and control the project budget, providing regular cost reports and forecasts. Ensure the project stays within financial constraints, identifying and addressing potential cost overruns early.
- Contract Administration: Manage and administer contracts, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions. Review and negotiate contract amendments or variations.
- Reporting & Financial Tracking: Provide detailed cost reports to senior management, highlighting risks, opportunities, and key financial metrics. Prepare accurate financial projections and monitor the financial health of the project.
- Value Engineering & Risk Management: Identify opportunities for value engineering, ensuring cost-effective solutions are implemented without compromising on quality. Proactively manage risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Management: Work closely with internal teams, contractors, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and efficient project delivery.
- Mentorship & Leadership: Mentor and support junior quantity surveyors and assist in developing their skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with a focus on residential projects (housing and apartments).
- Strong experience in procurement, tendering, and cost control in a similar construction environment.
- Excellent understanding of construction contracts and regulations.
- Demonstrable experience in managing project budgets and delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Ability to provide accurate and detailed financial reports, forecasts, and risk assessments.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage with clients, contractors, and stakeholders at all levels.
- Relevant degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field (MRICS qualification preferred, but not essential).
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in industry-standard software (e.g., MS Excel, CostX, or similar tools).
- A proactive, solution-oriented approach and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Full UK driving license preferred.
