Currently we are looking to recruit experienced school caretakers looking for either interim or long-term roles across South Yorkshire. Could this be you?

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Oversee the opening of the school premises in the morning and secure all buildings and gates in the evening.
  • Conduct regular checks and maintenance of the school facilities to ensure a safe environment for both students and staff.
  • Manage and lead a team of cleaners, ensuring all areas are kept clean and tidy.
  • Liaise with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to report on issues and progress.
  • Communicate effectively with contractors to coordinate maintenance and repair works.
  • Hold keyholding responsibilities for the school, ensuring the security of the premises.
  • Maintain awareness and compliance with health and safety regulations, including Legionella and COSHH.
  • Support the school’s safeguarding policies and contribute to a safe educational environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in maintenance roles.
  • Previous experience working in a school environment is desirable.
  • Must have or be willing to obtain an enhanced DBS check.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations, specifically Legionella and COSHH.
  • Strong leadership skills to manage a team of cleaners.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with SLT and contractors.
  • Understanding of safeguarding practices within a school setting.
