We are seeking a Service Director to provide strategic leadership within the Service Area. As a key member of the Directorate Management Team (DMT), this role involves working closely with the Executive Director and Elected Members to ensure the Council's vision, priorities, and values are actively promoted and delivered. The Service Director will be responsible for discharging statutory, non-statutory, and regulatory functions attached to the role.
Day-to-day of the role:- Play a pivotal role in the Directorate Management Team to ensure strategic and local objectives are met within the Service portfolio.
- Provide strong leadership to ensure efficient and effective delivery of services within available resources, aligning with priorities and financial targets set by the Council.
- Develop and maintain effective internal and external relationships to ensure provision and delivery of integrated services.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of partnership arrangements and drive efficiencies.
- Lead the development of innovative service delivery methods, setting challenging targets to ensure best practice and added value.
- Lead key corporate reviews and develop Council-wide strategies, projects, and policies.
- Ensure performance reviews are conducted to develop high-performing teams and promote a positive organisational culture.
- Horizon scan to maximise funding opportunities and ensure compliance with the Council Governance Framework.
- Level 7 postgraduate diploma/certificate in a relevant discipline.
- Experience in building and maintaining relationships both internally and externally.
- Proven track record in establishing working partnerships and providing professional advice to senior management and elected members.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality customer-focused services within budget constraints.
- Strong understanding of the legal, financial, and political aspects of local government.
- Excellent leadership, influencing, and managerial skills.
- Ability to organise and prioritise workloads to meet deadlines.
- Developed negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to innovate and develop new initiatives.
