We are seeking a Service Manager for our Housing Repairs and Maintenance sector. This pivotal role is responsible for the overall delivery and strategic direction of the service, including development, implementation of policies, and ensuring high standards of service delivery and performance. The Service Manager will also deputise for the Head of Service and cover for other Service/Business Managers as necessary.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement effective strategies and policies that guide the future development of the service.
  • Performance Management: Oversee service delivery, ensuring all performance, budget, and professional standards are met.
  • People Management: Lead, coach, and develop a team, ensuring their health, safety, and professional growth.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage budget forecasts, income, and cost targets in compliance with financial regulations.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Trade Union representatives and local government officials.
  • Service Improvement: Continuously seek opportunities to improve service delivery and customer satisfaction.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience: Proven track record at a senior management level within a large, complex organisation, preferably in housing maintenance or a related field.
  • Leadership: Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing large-scale projects.
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of performance and risk management, strategic and operational planning.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively and influencing stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong ability to manage and resolve complex issues effectively.
  • Qualifications: Degree level education or equivalent relevant experience.
