Residential Deputy Manager
  • Annual Salary: £38,658 + 8.5% all-inclusive allowance

  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Shifts: It will involve working 148 hours on a 4-week rota, which will include working 2 weekends, weekends off. Shift patterns will include working shifts of 7-3 & 2-10, and sleep in shifts which of 2-11. In the absence of the manager, the deputy will take up the hours of the manager, which would be 8-4.

We are seeking a dedicated Residential Deputy Manager to assist the Registered Manager in the day-to-day management of our home. In the absence of the Registered Manager, the Deputy Manager will have overall responsibility for the home and the care of the children, ensuring compliance with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Assist in managing the budget and resources to ensure the efficient running of the home.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with children, their families, professionals, and the wider community.
  • Ensure the appropriate assessment and admission of all children into the home.
  • Implement and monitor all safeguarding practices.
  • Organise the duty rota to ensure adequate staff cover at all times.
  • Lead the development and implementation of robust care plans tailored to the individual needs and aspirations of each child.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of care provided, conducting regular audits and implementing improvement strategies.
  • Manage the supervision and mentoring of the staff team, providing training and regular appraisals.
  • Ensure compliance with the Children’s Homes Regulations and the Ofsted framework for inspection.
  • Act as the building manager in delegated authority, ensuring compliance with Fire, Environmental, and H&S regulations.
  • Recruit and induct new colleagues, fostering their development and ensuring high-quality care.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the continuous professional development of yourself and your team.
  • Participate in the ‘sleep in’ rota as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in a supervisory or management role within a residential setting for children with challenging emotional behaviour.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of Ofsted Regulations and quality standards.
  • Level 3 QCF Children & Young People or equivalent is desirable.
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Care is desirable.
  • Ability to work flexibly and above normal hours during times of crisis.
