1:1 Teaching Assistant

Location: DN8Salary: 90-£95 per day Hours: 8:30-15:30 Monday-Friday.

Reed Education are currently supporting an 'Outstanding’ rated primary school who are looking to recruit a teaching assistant with experience supporting children with complex autism on a 1:1 basis. The ideal candidate will have experience with EHCP’s and a strong grasp on the KS1 curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with parents, SENCO and other outside agencies to develop strategies and techniques to make progress towards EHCP targets.
  • Foster a positive learning environment, providing encouragement and developing confidence within the child.
  • Adapt lesson materials and resources to make them accessible with a keen eye for incorporating the child’s interests to make the materials engaging.
  • Provide a safe space and encourage the use of sensory play/regulation techniques to make every day a positive one.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with Autism, particularly high support needs.
  • Previous experience with PDA (pathological demand avoidance)
  • Knowledge of the KS1 curriculum
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service
  • Resilience and empathy
